The performances include visits to all fourth/fifth grade classrooms by the strings, woodwind and brass ensembles and is culminated by a yearly student concert at the Capitol Theatre in Yakima. The ensemble leaders develop performances that support the state Essential Academic Learning Requirements for music and build on the previous ensemble visits. These visits introduce students to the ensemble instruments in hopes of increasing student participation in band and/or orchestra and support the standards-based instruction provided by music teachers. The 2011-2012 YSO Student Concert will be held on May 4th at the Capitol Theatre. Registration information coming soon.
